Cat Tale was intended to be an animated film by Imagi Entertainment starring Sean Astin, Elisha Cuthbert, Jerry O'Connell, David Cross, Catherine O'Hara, Rip Torn, Stanley Tucci, R. Lee Ermey, Michael Richards, Fred Willard, Chazz Palminteri, Wayne Knight, Billy Idol and Alan Cumming.
Imagi Studios canceled the film in 2007, and closed altogether in February 2010 due to financial trouble about debts that they hadn't paid their employees. In January 2010 Felix Ip, Creative Art Director at Imagi and director of the film, left the studio. On July 21, 2010, Imagi Studios was revived and came back online, saying that they were debt-free. The trailer was released on the website.
According to the Imagi website the project is still in early production stages.
A cat named Rover has been raised as a dog in Dogtown by accident. He heads to Catopolis to discover where he really came from and find his roots. He meets Cleo, his love interest, who is sought after by Simon, a ruthless cat-box-litter executive. He then meets Newton, a guide and friend in Catopolis, who helps him find his roots.
